Tengku Romot

Bukit kecil di dekat kota Reo yang memiliki sejarah yang unik. Terletak di ketinggian 58 mdpl dengan jarak tempuh 143 km dari Ruteng, terdapat dua meriam kuno peninggalan sejarah kerajaan Reo. Nama senjata meriam kuno itu adalah Jene Bedi sehingga Bukit Tengku Romot disebut sebagai Doro Bedi artinya Gunung Senjata karena adanya meriam tersebut. Ketiadaan bukti tertulis yang ditinggalkan oleh generasi Reok terdahulu menjadi kendala munculnya pemahaman literasi yang baik untuk generasi sekarang tentang keberadaan tempat dan benda bersejarah itu.

Hasil penelusuran seorang pemuda bernama Kamarudin Abdulah dan rekan-rekannya di Museum “Asi Mbojo” Bima Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) hanya menemukan meriam serupa yang ditata rapi, namun tidak memiliki catatan khusus yang bisa menghubungkan sejarah keberadaan meriam kuno yang sampai saat ini masih ada di Bukit Tengku Romot Reok sebagai benda peninggalan Nenek Moyang Kedaulatan Reo. Jejak catatan penting yang ditemukan oleh Kamarudin Abdulah dan rekan-rekannya itu baru ada pada sebuah buku sejarah tentang Manggarai yang berjudul “Manggarai Mencari Pencerahan Histografi”. Buku itu terbit tahun 1999.

A small hill near the town of Reo with a unique history. Located at an altitude of 58 meters above sea level and 143 km from Ruteng, there are two ancient cannons left behind by the Reo kingdom. The ancient cannons are called Jene Bedi, so Tengku Romot Hill is referred to as Doro Bedi, meaning Gun Hill, because of the cannons. The absence of written records left by previous generations of Reo has hindered the development of a good understanding among the current generation about the existence of this historical site and its artifacts.
The findings of a young man named Kamarudin Abdulah and his colleagues at the “Asi Mbojo” Museum in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), only found a similar cannon that was neatly arranged, but there were no specific records that could link the history of the ancient cannon that still exists today on Tengku Romot Reok Hill as an artifact of the ancestors of the Reo Kingdom. The important records found by Kamarudin Abdulah and his colleagues were only found in a history book about Manggarai entitled “Manggarai Mencari Pencerahan Histografi” (Manggarai Seeks Historical Enlightenment). The book was published in 1999.
