Golo Curu

Julukan Ruteng sebagai kota seribu gereja tercermin dari jejak peninggalan ajaran agama katolik melalui bangunan biara dan beberapa banguan gereja, Gua Maria, dan tradisi kehidupan umat katolik warga kota Ruteng yang masih bertahan hingga saat ini melalui perayaan Paskah dan Natal maupun tradisi doa Rosario pada bulan Mei dan Oktober. Golo Curu merupakan salah satu obyek wisata untuk menjalani kegiatan wisata pilgrim atau ziarah karena memiliki patung Bunda Maria dengan tinggi mencapai kurang lebih 2 meter yang tepat berada di atas Puncak Bukit dengan panorama alam megah di sekeliling bukit.

Lokasinya yang sangat strategis di sudut utara kota Ruteng, Golo Curu berdiri kokoh siap menjemput (curu dalam bahasa Manggarai) siapa saja yang hendak menikmati keberkahan alam termasuk untuk menenangkan diri (healing) di lokasi yang cukup jauh dari hiruk pikuk kota. Golo Curu masuk dalam wilayah Karot, Kecamatan Langke Rembong, Kabupaten Manggarai dan berada pada ketinggian 1.136 mdpl dengan jarak 1,58 km dari pusat kota Ruteng dengan waktu tempuh 5 menit menggunakan sepeda motor dan mobil.

Ruteng’s nickname as the city of a thousand churches is reflected in the traces of Catholic teachings through monasteries and several churches, the Maria Cave, and the traditions of the Catholic community in Ruteng, which still survive today through Easter and Christmas celebrations and the tradition of praying the Rosary in May and October. Golo Curu is a tourist attraction for pilgrims because it has a statue of the Virgin Mary that stands approximately 2 meters tall on top of a hill with a magnificent natural panorama surrounding it.
Its highly strategic location in the northern corner of Ruteng city, Golo Curu stands tall and ready to welcome (curu in the Manggarai language) anyone who wants to enjoy the blessings of nature, including for healing in a location far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Golo Curu is located within the Karot area, Langke Rembong Sub-district, Manggarai Regency, at an elevation of 1,136 meters above sea level. It is 1.58 km from the center of Ruteng, with a travel time of 5 minutes by motorcycle or car.
